Blood Pressure & Stroke
It is a known medical fact that blood pressure is the major contributor to the Stroke Event. I studied medicine for 4 years at Sydney University. When I was 58 in 1998 I suffered a massive stroke. I collapsed at home. In Casualty at Royal North Shore Hospital the doctor found my blood pressure to be 220 Systolic over 110 Diastolic. I was immediately put in the serious stroke ward, completely paralysed. I couldn’t speak or move.
Next morning, Kate Storey, senior neurologist, told me “to get my affairs in order”, she was accompanied by 4 resident doctors who concurred. This was the death ward. There were 6 beds. My family was advised and all came in to say goodbye. Being an eternal optimist all my life, I thought to myself, “what do these fools know? “ I’ll beat this.
Next morning one of the beds was empty, one had died in the night. Whew! I had to face it, this woman, imported from the world famous Guys Hospital in London, was the world’s most famous neurologist.
So I signed my will and made my preparations with God to soon meet him. My blood pressure was still in the danger red area. My daughter, Linda , to whom I had given all my medical books, had been practicing as a naturopath in Macquarie Street, Sydney. She had an endearing thought and a practical one.
When she saw the doctors had not one way of treatment asked me if she could try her theories by way of medicines on me. I had nothing to lose and I had a very deep respect for Linda both as a person and a healer. So I agreed. Over the next fortnight she came every day with her medicines which I took without questioning.
In that time 3 other beds were emptied, all had died. In the next bed to me was a Supreme Court Judge (Jim) and we became great friends and exchanged confidences. Fear of dying has a way of pulling people together. He watched Linda coming daily and began to admire her undoubted loyalty, then, quite unexpectedly he died. I was devastated and was now after 3 weeks the only survivor.
With Linda’s continuous treatment I was now talking and slowly shuffling and could go to the bathroom alone and clean my teeth. Her diligence and expertise was working. The doctors were amazed. They decided to have a symposium in the lecture hall and I was their leading star. They pontificated on their “smarts” pointing out to the packed gallery how smart they were to save my life. I then drew the line, no photos or comments would I give to the newspapers. I was not a prize guinea pig.
My daughter without any doubt saved my life. I will be always eternally grateful to her. This was 12 years ago. I discharged myself and have adapted my lifestyle to Linda’s regime and am so glad I did. She has the ”gift” of healing.
Recently I allowed myself to get too fat and felt so well I went off the treatment. My blood pressure was 210 (Systolic) over 95 (Diastolic) – death!! I called Linda, she put me on blood pressure supplements and 6 weeks later I am 140/79. Normal!! - Life.
